Dog named LaceyBoy holds puppy

Thank you to everyone who came to visit us at the Open Kennel 2014.  There were puppies both big and small to greet everyone.  Lacey enjoyed the attention.  The newest pups from the “R” litter were very popular.

Freedom’s Dining in the Dark event was a huge success and raised almost $10,000 to support our work!  Diners enjoyed a silent auction offering lots of fun items as well bidding on a personalized charcoal portrait of a pet or person by Chris O’Herron of Almost Home Studios.  During dinner when participants were blindfolded, many diners were challenged by pouring iced water from a large pitcher into glasses and buttering a dinner roll!  Diners also commented that it was easy to feel somewhat isolated even though they knew they were sitting with numerous other folks.  The experience was certainly impactful and helped all of us to understand a bit more about the challenges of being visually impaired.   Watch for Save the Date information for next year’s event!
